Burying the CDC Report:

In 1984, the CDC reported the results of its survey of people having negative reactions to aspartame. 30% of those reporting had recurring symptoms once they resumed aspartame consumption.

This report was drowned out by Pepsi's announcement of their choice to market aspartame as a sweetener in their softdrinks. In this conversation with consumer attorney Jim Turner, we learn the connection between current Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Pepsi CEO Donald Kendall, and Richard Nixon.

This is a classic example of how successful PR is used to skirt public safety.
